Before The First Capsule: Seal, Lot And Base Of A New Bottle

Opening a supplement takes ten seconds. Checking it takes two minutes more, and in the men’s vitality category those two minutes are well spent. Here is the routine, in the order you meet each part of the bottle.

Three bottles, three checks Three bottles, the pack chosen most often on this desk. Each one gets the same check before its first capsule.
The short version
  • Seal first. The label: do not use if the safety seal is damaged or missing.
  • Then the base. The lot and best-before sit on the base when the bottle shows them. Current stock is lot ALP-26/AL-4579.
  • Then the panel. Seven rows, 118 mg, two capsules a serving, 30 servings.
  • Why bother. 45.5% of 776 adulterated supplements named in FDA warnings from 2007 to 2016 were sold for sexual enhancement.

Why a new bottle deserves two minutes

Most supplements are what their labels say. The problem is the minority that are not, and in one category that minority is large. An analysis of FDA warnings in JAMA Network Open (Tucker 2018) found 776 adulterated supplements named between 2007 and 2016. Of those, 45.5% were sold for sexual enhancement, and in that group the most common hidden ingredient, in 47%, was sildenafil, a prescription drug.

The FDA keeps a running list of tainted sexual-enhancement and energy products, and an analysis of popular online men’s supplements found horny goat weed and tongkat ali among the most common ingredients in the category. Contamination is a second concern: a survey of 100 tongkat ali products found 36% over the Malaysian mercury limit.

None of this is a finding about AlphaSteel. It is the reason the checks below are worth doing on any bottle in this category, this one included.

Before the parcel: where you buy matters

The easiest check happens before a bottle exists. A product bought from the seller it is meant to come from has a traceable path: an order email, an order ID, a support line that can see the order, and stock from a known lot. Buy on alphaesteel.com so the refund window on this desk applies.

The checkout shows the price, any shipping and the total before card details are asked for, and the order email that follows is the record every later check depends on. Where to buy explains the rest.

The parcel and the order email

The check starts before the bottle. The order email carries the order ID and the tracking, and it is the document order support works from. Keep it until the 60-day guarantee window, counted from purchase, has closed.

When the parcel arrives, check that what is inside matches the pack you ordered: two, three or six bottles of 60 capsules. If a bottle is missing or the box is damaged, keep the packaging and call order support on +1 (302) 200-3480 with the order ID.

Step one: the safety seal

The AlphaSteel label is explicit: “Do not use if safety seal is damaged or missing.” It is the only instruction on the bottle that tells you to stop, and it comes first for that reason.

A seal is a tamper check. An intact seal says the bottle has not been opened since it was filled; it says nothing about what was filled. Treat a broken, loose or missing seal as a reason not to take a single capsule, and call order support.

Step two: the base

Turn the bottle over. The lot and best-before date sit on the base when the bottle shows them. The lot identifies the production run, and on this desk’s current stock it is ALP-26/AL-4579. Write it down, or photograph it, before the print has a chance to wear.

The certificate reference for the same stock, ALP-4579-26-AL, is a different kind of number. Lot and certificate references are filing references for matching an order to stock. They are not a laboratory result, and no lab letter exists to show. If your base shows no lot, the order ID still identifies what was shipped, and order support can match it to stock. The batch check page sets out the same routine on one screen.

A single white AlphaSteel bottle with a black and red label reading Supports Energy and Performance, 60 Capsules, standing on a steel pedestal
The bottle you are checking The front carries the claims and the count; the lot and best-before belong on the base, which this picture does not show.

Step three: the front label

The front should read, top to bottom, six lines. A front label that promises more than these, or names a condition, is not the label this desk sells.

  • AlphaSteel
  • Supports Energy & Performance
  • Supports Male Vitality
  • Supports Confidence & Performance
  • 60 Capsules
  • Dietary Supplement

Three of the six lines simply identify the product: the name, the count and the words Dietary Supplement. The other three are its whole claim, each introduced by ‘supports’: energy and performance, male vitality, confidence and performance. If the bottle in your hand promises a named result, a cure or a speed, it is worth a call before it is worth a capsule.

Step four: the panel

The Supplement Facts panel is the heart of the check: serving size 2 capsules, 30 servings per container, and seven rows, each with an amount.

What to check on the panel, and what each line tells you
CheckWhat it should readWhat it tells you
Serving size2 capsulesEvery amount below is per two capsules, not per capsule
Servings per container30One bottle lasts 30 days
Rows one to fiveSaw palmetto, wild yam, sarsaparilla, nettle, boron chelate: 20 mg eachFive ingredients at the same weight
Row sixTongkat ali, 10 mg of a 100:1 extractAbout 1,000 mg of dry powder, as labelled
Row sevenHorny goat weed, 8 mg of a 10:1 extractAbout 80 mg of dry powder, as labelled
Other ingredientsMicrocrystalline cellulose, gelatin, magnesium stearateWhat the capsule is made of and held together with
% Daily ValueA dagger on every rowNo Daily Value is set for any of the seven

If your panel prints different rows or different amounts, the bottle in your hand is the document that counts. Tell order support, and tell the website desk so the pages can be checked against it.

The label, unrolled Suggested use and the caution on the left, the front in the middle, the Supplement Facts panel on the right. Hold your bottle beside it and read across.

Step five: count and storage

Sixty capsules, which is 30 servings at two a day. The storage line reads “Keep away from heat, light, and humidity to preserve freshness.”, and the warning adds “Store in a cool, dry place.” A bathroom cabinet, warm and humid, is the classic wrong place; a kitchen cupboard away from the stove is a better one.

Keep the bottle out of the reach of children, as the label also says, and keep the cap closed between doses.

Step six: the capsules themselves

Tip two capsules into your palm. They should look alike: the same size, the same colour, whole and dry, not cracked, soft or stuck together. The panel lists the shell and fillers as microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate, so what you are holding is a gelatin capsule filled with the seven actives and those two other ingredients.

A capsule that looks different from the rest, or a smell that seems wrong for a botanical product, is worth a call before the first dose rather than after it. Keep the bottle and note the lot.

The first dose

The label’s suggested use is short: “As a dietary supplement, take two (2) capsules daily with an 8 oz. glass of water.” Two capsules are one serving, and the label asks you not to exceed it. There is no loading dose and no reason to take more on day one.

Note the date of the first capsule beside the purchase date. The gap between the two is how much of the 60-day guarantee window delivery and unpacking have used, and it tells you how long you really have to judge the product before a return would need to be posted. The results timeline sets that against the 4 to 8 weeks buyers describe.

If something is wrong

  • Seal broken or missing: do not use the bottle; call order support with the order ID.
  • Panel different from the seven rows above: keep the bottle and call.
  • Capsules broken, stuck together or discoloured: stop and ask.
  • Anything about these pages: the website desk answers those. Anything about an order: order support.

A note on what this is

AlphaSteel is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for any condition, and its label claims support for energy and performance, male vitality, and confidence and performance, nothing more. The checks above are about the bottle, not your health. The label asks pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition to consult a physician before use, and anyone taking a PDE5 prescription or a nitrate should raise AlphaSteel with the prescriber first.
